Trump Account Contributions: Limits and Sources

Last verified: September 3, 20263 cited sources

Money can flow into a Trump Account from several sources, but most of it shares a single annual cap.

The annual limit

The general limit is $5,000 per child per year for 2026 and 2027, indexed for inflation after 2027. Contributions can come from parents, other family, friends, and the child.

Employer contributions

An employer may contribute up to $2,500 per employee per year. That amount counts toward the $5,000 limit and is generally tax-free to the employee.

The government $1,000

The one-time $1,000 federal contribution for eligible children is separate from the amounts families and employers add each year.
