Understanding the One-Time $1,000 Government Contribution
One of the most common points of confusion is the $1,000 federal contribution. It is a one-time deposit for eligible children — not an annual payment — and its rules are narrower than the rules for having an account.
To qualify, a child must be a U.S. citizen born from January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2028, with a valid Social Security number, and the election must be made for them. Full details are on our eligibility page.
Rules can change. Before you act, confirm the current details with official sources such as the IRS and the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and the official program site at trumpaccounts.gov.
